Year 6- Violet Class
Welcome to our class page. Here you will find relevant information about our learning in Violet class.
In the Autumn term, we will be learning about 'The Victorians', with the aim of answering the question: Did the Victorians transform Penzance?
We will visit the local area to witness first-hand some of the changes that happened in the Victorian era and use secondary sources from the Cornish archives at Kresen Kernow to help debate our topic question.
As part of our wider experiences, we will visit Penlee House Museum and the Victorian Village at Flambards to develop our knowledge and understanding.
In the Spring term, we will be learning about the 'The Anglo Saxons and Vikings', with the aim of answering the question: Who had the most impact on Britain, the Anglo Saxons or Vikings?
We develop our concept understanding of 'Invasion' in History; explore the lives of people in the past and investigate the changes that happened during the Anglo Saxon and Viking invasions of Britain.
Please see below our 'Small Step Overviews', Topic Leaflets' and 'Knowledge Organisers' for a detailed breakdown of our learning this year.
As we have done in previous years, we will be sharing photos of learning and any important messages on our class Facebook page. If you are not part of this private group, please request access to it.
In addition to this, the children will continue to use Microsoft TEAMS as a digital learning platform and resource base for parent/carers.
If you were not able to attend the Class 6 'Welcome Meeting', please view the Powerpoint in your child's account.
As always, if you have any further questions, please email me at: dking@st-marys-ce-pz.cornwall.sch.uk
Many thanks
