Class 1

Welcome to Class 1. 
During the second Autumn half term we will be learning about Africa in our Topic 'Going on Safari'. In English we will be reading Handa's Surprise and using this to explore new grammar and punctuation, we will also be learning about instructional texts.  In our maths lessons we will continue to learn number facts of numbers up to 10.  In our topic work we will locate the different continents and oceans, compare Penzance to an area of Africa, make puppets and learn about different types of animals.   Our topic will end with a performance of African drumming.
Please make sure that your child has their reading book each day and that they have their full PE kit with them on a Monday.
Children in Class 1 are still able to receive school dinners for free.

During the first Autumn half term we will be learning about 'Amazing Animals'.  Our learning will involve looking at different kinds of animals as well the habitats they live in.  We will be looking at non-fiction texts and labeling diagrams in English. Before half term we will learn the story of ' The Owl Babies' and writing our own story in the same style.  In Maths we will begin work on comparing numbers and making simple addition and subtractions.
